We're thrilled to announce our latest partnership with UNICEF, the world’s largest children’s rights agency. Together with UNICEF we will champion the humanitarian organization’s goals through gaming, special streams, in-game activations, and events focused on UNICEF’s Sustainable Development Goal “Quality Education”. Through its professional esports teams and content creators, Team Liquid will bring UNICEF’s mission to young gamers and esports fans around the world.

The collaboration was unveiled at the Intel x Team Liquid World Tour event in London, where Team Liquid founder and Co-CEO Victor Goossens spoke about the importance of working with UNICEF: “As a teenager, gaming taught me about new cultures, helped me develop a work ethic, and gave me a goal to strive towards. It was a life-changing opportunity for me, and everyone at Team Liquid likewise believes in the transformative power of gaming. Bringing these opportunities to young people is part of our mission, and we are honored to partner with UNICEF and work with them to support children worldwide in reaching their full potential.”

Esports and gaming as a bridge

By combining the unique strengths of both organizations, Team Liquid and UNICEF will be able to take advantage of gaming’s accessibility and popularity with young people to empower this next generation to thrive wherever they play, learn, and connect. Team Liquid provides a trusted bridge to digital natives, for whom gaming is a primary form of entertainment. UNICEF brings its global expertise in children’s rights, digital safety, and inclusive education, and a proven ability to create scalable, real-world change.

The partnership with UNICEF is a natural extension of Team Liquid’s goal for an “esports for all” and its education-first mission. Team Liquid has previously worked with children’s programs such as the Boys and Girls Club USA, held esports events at educational institutions of all levels, and created gaming experiences for workplaces such as IMC. By joining forces with Team Liquid, UNICEF opens up new possibilities to inspire the next generation, and mobilise digital communities to advocate and fundraise for the rights and futures of the world’s most vulnerable children.

Streaming for good

On November 20th, World Children’s Day, Team Liquid content creators and talent will kick off the collaboration with a two-week charity streaming event. Shortly thereafter, Team Liquid will reveal other components of the campaign, including the in-game integrations designed in support of UNICEF.

“We are excited to partner with Team Liquid to mobilize their esports and digital communities to advocate and raise vital funds for the world’s most vulnerable children,” said Sebastien Lyon, Chief, Corporate Partnerships at PFP, UNICEF. “Together, we aim to inspire a generation of young people by engaging with them in spaces where they come together to play and connect, and empowering them to transform awareness into impact in support of every child. This partnership is a powerful step in uniting play and purpose.”

Team Liquid and UNICEF invite the gaming community to join them in building a world where every child can play, learn, and thrive.
